Kougars get early game of DH versus MATC

April 19, 2026 - The Kish Softball team hosted Milwaukee Area Tech on Sunday splitting the doubleheader winning the early game 8-7 and dropping the nightcap 5-1. In game one, Kishwaukee were the first to get on the board in the second when Allison Abell singled, scoring one run.  The Kougars added one additional run in the third as Avery Boehne doubled in a baserunner with her hit to center field, making the score 2-0.  MATC captured the lead, 4-2, in the top of the fourth. Kish jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Sami Simms walked, Boehne singled to left field, and Kaelyn Williams singled to left field, each scoring one run.  After the Stormers took the lead back in the fifth, the Kougs in the bottom half of that inning scored two on a MATC an error, and Simms singling to center field, each scoring one run that they would hold onto the lead from there.  Williams earned the win for Kishwaukee allowing 10 hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking three. Abell led Kish with three hits while Boehne and Simms each drove in two runs. Williams collected two hits as teammate Paezleigh Hudgin coaxed two walks. 

Game two started out the same as game one as the Kougars were the first to score when Avery Boehne singled, scoring one run.  A home run to center field by MATC with a runner one gave them the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fifth that they wouldnt relinquish. Boehne took the loss for Kishwaukee going all seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out 10 and walking one. Paezleigh Hudgin went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Kougs as Madison Hallaron had two walks. 

Kishwaukee 21-18 overall with travel to Galesburg on Tuesday to take on Arrowhead Conference foe Sandburg College before hosting Waubonsee CC on Thursday April 23.  That day will be the Kougars' Strike out Cancer game - Play for Maddie game starting at 3:00 pm
