Kish sweeps Sauk Valley CC in Arrowhead DH

April 9, 2026 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team travelled to Dixon, Illinois Thursday afternoon to play an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader versus Sauk Valley CC. The Kougars would sweep the Skyhawks 7-1 and 15-13.  In game one, Kaelyn Williams struck out 11 batters and surrendered just six hits and one run over seven innings while walking two. Kish won thanks in part to four runs in the third inning.  Sami Simms tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Avery Boehne singled, scoring two runs.  The Kougars accumulated 13 hits in the game. Boehne led Kishwaukee with two runs batted in while Paezleigh Hudgin, Makenzie Mann, Georgia Gallardo, and Simms each collected two hits. Allison Abell and Madison Hallaron scored a run each while Lilli Delhotal and Williams added hits on offense.

In game two, there were runs aplenty as Kish collected 18 hits overall and rallied to get the win despite trailing 4-0 in the first.  The Kougars tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a single by Brooke Jackson, a ground out by Allison Abell, and a single by Sami Simms. The Kougs tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a sacrifice fly by Kaelyn Williams, and an error. In the bottom of the third, Sauk Valley broke up the tie to extend the lead to 10-7. Kish responded to tie the game up in the top of the fourth thanks to two singles including a game tying single by Madison Hallaron to make it 10-10.  A single by Paezleigh Hudgin gave Kishwaukee the lead, 11-10, in the top of the fifth only for the Skyhawks to tie it again in the bottom of their fifth.  The Kougars took the lead for good in the top of the seventh thanks to singles by Avery Boehne, and Georgia Gallardo to make it 15-11 and held on as SVCC plated just two more in their seventh to make the final score 15-13 Kish.

Boehne pitched four and one-third innings in relief allowing seven hits and five runs (two earned) while, striking out three and walking one. Allison Abell stepped in the circle first for the Kougars giving up six hits and six runs (one earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Williams led Kishwaukee with three RBI. Boehne three runs scored as Hallaron had four hits. Hudgin (2 SB), Abell, Gallardo, Boehne, and Simms each collected multiple hits while the team ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven stolen bases.  Brooke Jackson and Makenzie Mann added runs scored in the offensive effort.

Kishwaukee is now 18-13 overall and 7-6 in the Arrowhead Conference. They will head to Oglesby over the weekend to play four games in a mid-season tournament hosted by Illinois Valley CC (weather permitting). The Kougars will open against Waubonsee on Saturday at 9:00 am.
