March 30, 2026 - After dropping a game on Thursday to Illinois Valley CC, the Kishwaukee Kougars Softball team put together an impressive offensive showcase on Sunday, sweeping the Morton College Panthers in a doubleheader with commanding wins of 15-4 and 16-4 in Cicero. Kishwaukee wasted no time setting the tone in game one, erupting for seven runs in the top of the first inning. Kaelyn Williams started the scoring with a sacrifice fly, followed by RBI hits from Madison Hallaron, Brooke Jackson, Kayla Tofari, and Sami Simms to give the Kougars an early advantage. The offense stayed hot in the third inning as Avery Boehne and Williams each doubled in runs, while a Panther error added another. Kish continued to pull away in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Simms and a two-run home run by Paezleigh Hudgin to extend the lead to 14-3. Williams earned the win in the circle, allowing just four hits and three runs over three innings while striking out five. Allison Abell provided relief to help secure the victory. The Kougs racked up 14 hits in the game, led by Simms with three RBIs. Hudgin, Tofari, and Boehne each recorded multiple hits, while Lillie Gebel showcased discipline at the plate with two walks and added speed on the bases with two stolen bases.
Kishwaukee carried its momentum into game two, once again jumping ahead early. Lilli Delhotal got things started with a two-run home run in the first inning. The Kougars broke the game open in the third inning, scoring five runs behind contributions from Hudgin, Jackson, and Georgia Gallardo. They put the game out of reach in the sixth inning, plating seven runs with a mix of timely hitting, patience at the plate, and aggressive base running. Avery Boehne earned the win, going six innings while allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out four. Kishwaukee tallied 13 hits in the second game, with Hudgin, Hallaron, Gallardo, Boehne, and Simms each collecting two hits. Delhotal and Hudgin led the way with three RBIs apiece.
The Kougars (13-8 overall, 2-1 Arrowhead Conference) will look to carry their momentum on the road as they travel to Highland Community College on Tuesday for anouther Arrowhead Conference double header (weather permitting).
