Lady Kougars Pick Up Two More Wins in Florida

March 9, 2026 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team continued their spring trip week in Winter Haven, Florida on Monday with two more games. Kish picked up two impressive victories defeating Central CC (NE) 6–3 and edging Iowa Lakes CC 2–1 behind strong pitching and timely offense.  In the first game, the Kougars jumped out to an early lead against Central CC. Kishwaukee opened the scoring in the first inning when Avery Boehne grounded out, bringing in two runs. The Kougars added to their advantage in the second inning with RBI groundouts from Sami Simms and Boehne to extend the lead. Kaelyn Williams earned the win in the circle for Kishwaukee, pitching a complete game. Williams allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings while striking out four and walking four. Offensively, Tyra Smith and Simms each collected two hits while Kayla Tofari and Georgia Gallardo each scored a run. Smith also swiped two bases as Kishwaukee totaled three stolen bases in the game.

The Kougars carried their momentum into the second game, defeating Iowa Lakes CC 2–1 in a pitching duel. Kishwaukee got on the board in the first inning after an Iowa Lakes error allowed one run to score. The Kougars held onto the narrow lead thanks to a dominant performance in the circle from Avery Boehne. Boehne tossed a complete game, allowing six hits and one run over seven innings while striking out eight and walking two. At the plate, Paezleigh Hudgin, Tyra Smith, and Sami Simms each recorded a hit for the Kougars. Hudgin added two stolen bases as Kishwaukee totaled four steals in the game.

Kishwaukee will look to continue its momentum in their last two games in Florida on Wednesday.
