March 1, 2026 - The Kishwaukee College Softball team opened up regular season play at the Rosemont Dome in Rosemont, Illinois this past weekend in a tournament featuring many of the top NJCAA Region 4 teams. The Kougars went 3-1 in their four games they played. Here are some highlights:
Game One – Saturday
Kougars 13, Harper Hawks 0
Kaelyn Williams was unstoppable both at the plate and in the circle. Williams went a perfect 4-for-4, doubling in the fifth and adding singles in the second, third, and fourth innings. She also struck out 12 batters, allowing just three hits and no runs over five innings while walking three.
Kishwaukee got on the board in the second inning when Tyra Smith singled to score the game's first run. The Kougars extended their lead in the third, capitalizing on two Harper errors and an RBI double from Lilli Delhotal.
A five-run fourth inning put the game out of reach. Williams singled home a run, Madison Hallaron drew a bases-loaded walk, Brooke Jackson grounded out to bring in another, and Smith delivered a two-run single.
The Kougars tallied 16 hits in the contest. Smith, batting in the nine spot, led the team with three RBIs while going 3-for-3. Delhotal and Avery Boehne each recorded multiple hits. Paezleigh Hudgin and Boehne each stole multiple bases as the team totaled four stolen bases. Defensively, Kishwaukee was flawless, committing no errors. Hallaron led the team with 12 fielding chances.
Game Two – Saturday
Kougars 7, MCC Scots 4
Kishwaukee secured a 7-4 win over the MCC Scots later Saturday.
The Kougars regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth following a Scots error and a groundout by Hudgin. In the sixth, Kishwaukee erupted for five runs on three hits to take control, highlighted by a two-run single from Hudgin.
Allie Abell earned the win, pitching seven innings while allowing four runs (two earned) on 10 hits, striking out four without issuing a walk.
Hudgin led with three RBIs, while Boehne went 3-for-3. Georgia Gallardo drew two walks as part of a patient offensive effort. Makenzie Mann stole two bases, and the Kougars totaled four stolen bases in the game.
Game Three – Sunday
Kougars 1, MATC Stormers 0 (Walk-Off)
Sunday featured a dramatic finish as the Kougars edged the MATC Stormers 1-0 in walk-off fashion.
With the game scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, Tyra Smith delivered a clutch single to bring home the winning run.
Williams earned the victory, tossing a one-hit shutout while striking out nine and walking one. Smith drove in the lone run, and Williams, Lilli Delhotal, and Boehne each contributed a hit.
Game Four – Sunday
Triton 1, Kougars 0
In the finale, the Triton Trojans narrowly defeated Kishwaukee 1-0.
Despite out-hitting Triton four to one, the Kougars were unable to capitalize offensively. Kaelyn Williams led the team with two hits.
Avery Boehne took the tough-luck loss, pitching six strong innings while allowing just one unearned run on one hit, striking out five and walking one.
Kishwaukee is now preparing for their annual spring trip to Clermont, Florida where the Kougars will play seven games in a five-day span while opening up with the Mott Community College (MI) Bears on Saturday, March 7 in game one then play Ellsworth Communuity College (IA) in game two on the 7th. #KishFam
