Busy week for softball begins with DH vs Bryant and Stratton and get a big win

April 22, 2025 - The Kishwaukee College softball team hosted Bryant and Stratton College Monday in an important NJCAA Region 4 doubleheader that had post-season seeding implications.  In game one, both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but the Kougars would prevail in a hard fought 2-0 vicotry over the Bobcats. Alyssa Wilkerson started the game for Kish pitching a complete game while giving up three hits and striking out three.  Kishwaukee got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with a two-out rally sparked by a single to right by Laila Anderson who then scored on a Bella Koertner RBI triple to left. Reilee Suter followed with her own RBI single to left field, driving in Koertner.  It was all Wilkerson needed, along with some solid defense behind her, for the win.  Koertner, Anderson, Kailey Goetz, Haley Von Schnase, and Suter each collected a hit for the Kougs.

Game two also had a ton of drama as the Kougars fouhgt back in the seventh down 4-1 as they loaded the bases with two outs, but a deep fly ball to the track in centerfield ended the game and gave the Kougars a split on the day. Kyra Johnson took the loss for Kish but went seven strong innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out seven and walking three. Haley Von Schnase went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Kish in hits.

Kishwaukee (29-19 overall, 12-6 Arrowhead Conference) will travel to Highland CC Tuesday in the conference finale then have a quick turnaround as they host Waubonsee on Wednesday.
