December 8, 2025 — In a heart-pounding NJCAAE National semi-finals showdown, Kishwaukee College's Fortnite duo of Clayton Lindgren and Nathan Knight pushed Texas-based Ranger College to the absolute limit, ultimately falling 3–2 in a best-of-five series in the NJCAAE Division I National Championship. The match delivered every bit of drama expected on the national stage, showcasing the grit, adaptability, and competitive fire that has defined the Kish esports program all season.
A Semifinal For the Ages
Kishwaukee came out swinging in Game 1, opening the series with a commanding statement win. Lindgren and Knight doubled Ranger's eliminations and controlled the pace from start to finish—tight rotations, disciplined engagements, and smart zone control immediately put the pressure on Ranger College.
But Ranger responded with championship-caliber poise. Games 2 and 3 swung momentum in their direction as they sharpened their mid-game pushes and found more efficient rotations, suddenly putting Kish in a must-win situation.
Refusing to fold, Lindgren and Knight delivered a gutsy performance in Game 4. Their synergy was on full display as they survived difficult rotations, clutched late-game fights, and forced a winner-take-all Game 5.
The final match was a slugfest. Both squads exchanged eliminations in the opening minutes, mirroring each other's intensity. As the zone tightened, Ranger located more squads and secured stronger loot, slowly opening a gap. With Nathan knocked late, Clayton made multiple heroic attempts to retrieve and reboot his teammate—but each effort was shut down by surrounding opponents. With resources dwindling and pressure mounting, Kish ultimately fell in the closing sequence.
Though the loss ended their title run, the duo's fight embodied exactly what Kish esports stands for: heart, resilience, and refusing to back down from anyone.
Bouncing Back: Kish Secures 3rd in the Nation
Barely an hour later, Lindgren and Knight returned to the stage to face Hutchinson Community College for the national 3rd-place match. Kish struck first, taking Match 1 decisively. Hutchinson answered in Match 2, but from there Kish locked in.
With renewed focus, sharp edits, and confident mid-game fights, Lindgren and Knight stormed through Matches 3 and 4, claiming back-to-back wins and securing 3rd Place Nationally—the highest finish in program history for Fortnite.
A Historic Season for Kish Esports
Lindgren and Knight leave the tournament as the most successful Fortnite duo ever to represent Kishwaukee College. Their performance not only places them among the nation's elite competitors, but also fuels the program with momentum heading into future seasons.
Their run—marked by perseverance, teamwork, and belief—has set a new standard for what is possible for Kish esports.
