March 1, 2026 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team opened up regular season play down in west central Illinois at host Lewis and Clark CC for four games and against East Central (MO) College for two games. The Kougars went 1-5 in their six games they played. Here are some highlights:
Game one Friday
Kishwaukee Kougars Vanquish Lewis and Clark CC In High-Scoring Affair
Both Kishwaukee and Lewis and Clark had their offenses going on Friday at Lloyd Hopkins Field, but the Kougars eventually prevailed 9-7. Kishwaukee collected 11 hits, while Lewis and Clark had seven. Kougars opened the scoring in the first after Sawyer Larson homered to left field, scoring two runs. Lewis and Clark made the score 4-2 in the bottom of the first. Nick Price homered to left field, which helped Kishwaukee tie the game at four in the top of the third. Kish jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Caleb Barth homered to left field, Brock Metzger homered to left field, Sean Wasserman tripled, and Price singled to left field, each scoring one run.
Alex Prince earned the win for the Kougars. The pitcher allowed three hits and six runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking four. Larson collected the save. Nicholas Coletta appeared in relief for the Kougars. Kishwaukee collected 11 hits in the game. Larson, Barth, and Price each collected two hits. Larson, Barth, and Price each drove in two runs for the Kougars.
Game two Friday
Lewis and Clark were the first to get on the board in the third, scoring two runs. Top of the 5th inning Jakob Deleo homered to left field, scoring two runs. John Schulte took the loss for the Kougars. The hurler went four innings, surrendering five runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking two. Deleo provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Kish with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-2 on the day with 1 homer.
Game 3 Saturday
Sawyer Larson hit two home runs and drove in six, but Kish lost to Lewis and Clark CC 12-8 on Saturday at Lloyd Hopkins Field. Larson homered in the fifth and seventh innings. Despite the loss, Kishwaukee did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Lewis and Clark opened the scoring in the first with 1 run. Johnny Stasiak doubled down the left field line, which helped Kishwaukee tie the game at one in the top of the second. A single by Larson gave Kish the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.
The Blazers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field that drove in three. Kishwaukee scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Jakob Deleo was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Larson hit a grand slam to center field. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lewis and Clark CC Blazers 26 went back into the lead scoring 2 runs. The Kougars scored one run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Larson on an 0-2 count.
Josh Uebele took the loss for the Kougars . The pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up two runs (zero earned) on two hits, striking out two and walking two. Patrick Jasinski began the game for Kishwaukee Kougars Spring 2026. The pitcher allowed 10 hits and seven runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking four. Jakob DeLeo 2 runs scored & RBI. Sean Wasserman, Jackson Young, Grant Bruen and Bryce Feit with run scored each. Johnny Stasiak double and RBI.
Game 4 Saturday
East Central CC added two runs in the second. Making the score 5-0. Jacob Dzado pitched four innings in relief for the Kougars. The hurler allowed two hits and zero runs while, striking out three and walking one. Maddox Gerwig stepped on the bump first for Kishwaukee. The pitcher allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Nate Kolder and Nick Price each collected one hit for the Kougars.
Game five Sunday
Kishwaukee could not keep up with Lewis and Clark losing 4-1 on Sunday at Lloyd Hopkins Field. The Blazers opened the scoring in the first after a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Lewis and Clark added one run in the second after a double to center field. Nathan Kolder hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fifth for Kish.
Russell Butitta started the game for the Kougars. The hurler allowed eight hits and four runs over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Kolder went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Grant Bruen, the number nine hitter, led Kishwaukee with two hits in three at bats.
Game six Sunday
Kish 16-4 on Sunday. East Central CC jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after scoring 5 runs. Jack Okun hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the second for the Kougars. East Central CC scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Brock Metzger stepped on the bump first for Kishwaukee. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and six runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking three. Nico Mainolfi, Okun, Johnny Stasiak, and Jackson Young each drove in one run for Kishwaukee. Caleb Barth went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Kougars in hits.
Kishwaukee will travel on their annual spring trip, this year to Tennessee where they will battle Volunteer State CC for their opening doubleheader on Monday, March 9 followed by doubleheaders against Motlow State CC and Columbia State CC. #KishFam
