Kougars Baseball stops at South Suburban before heading on spring trip

March 17, 2022 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team opened up its annual spring trip with a quick stop in South Holland Thursday to take on South Suburban College for a nine inning game before heading to Indiana and eventually Tennessee for additional contests.  The game would be tied 1-1 after the top of the fourth when Kish would plate a run after Darnell Coleman (St Laurence HS) had singled, advanced to third on a single to right by Tyler Jacobsen (Jacobs HS) and then Coleman scoring on an RBI groundout by Blake Novinsky (Sycamore HS). The Kougars were only able to pick up one more run in the ninth when Isaiah Nunez (Somonauk HS), who had led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a Rico Garcia (Peoria HS) single, eventually scored on a passed ball.  The final was a victory by South Suburban 9-2.  Nate Stear (Limestone HS) picked up the other hit for Kish.  Declan McGrath (St Charles North HS) went 3 2/3 innings on the mound for the Kougars striking out 3 while Gavin Gallagher (Hobart-IN HS) pitched 2 1/3 innings with a strikeout and Jaden Jones (Jones College Prep HS) 1 1/3 inninngs striking out 1.

Kishwaukee, 0-2 overall on the young season after a tough loss at a neutral site in Wheeling Monday to Harper College 15-9, will travel to Ft Wayne, Indiana on Friday weather permitting to take on Indiana Tech University JV in a doubleheader before then travelling to Chattanooga, Tennessee to continue their spring trip.
