Kougars Volleyball sign six in recruiting class

July 12, 2018- Kishwaukee College and Head Volleyball Coach, Emily Bodmer, has announced the commitment of six players for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.  The recruiting class includes freshman Setter Katie Schilling (Indian Creek HS), freshman Defensive Specialist Megan Hauman (DeKalb HS), freshman Outside Hitter Shelbie Preston (Lanark-Eastland HS), freshman Middle Blocker Jeanette Brann (Genoa Kingston HS), sophomore Outside Hitter Alexandria Orkfritz (Sycamore HS) and freshman Outside Hitter Faith Roush (Rochelle Township HS).

Coach Bodmer on the incoming class:

Katie Schilling - "Katie was a first team all-area pick last year and I am looking forward to seeing her take on the role, both vocally and physically, of running our offense here at Kishwaukee this season."

Megan Hauman – "Megan is a defensive specialist. She played a big role in the success of the DeKalb volleyball team this past season and I am excited to see Megan continue her career here at Kish. She brings a lot of speed to our back row this season."

Shelbie Preston – "Shelbie comes from one of the best 1A programs in the state and played club volleyball for No Limits Volleyball out of Sterling, Illinois. I am eager to see the winning mentality and experience Shelbie brings into the program."

Jeanette Brann – "I believe that Jeanette is going to be a force to reckon with this season here at Kishwaukee. With her height and athleticism, she is able to put up a big block and put a ball away in a critic point of the match."

Alexandria Orkfritz – "Alexandria is a sophomore transfer from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. She brings an aggressive attitude to her position as an outside hitter and will be a great outlet for us to utilize in our offense this season."

Faith Roush - "Faith was an outside hitter for Rochelle that I plan to mold into a solid defensive specialist here at Kish. I believe that Faith will be a great asset to our team both on serve receive and on defense along with her flexibility during the match when needed.

The Kougars will start the season at home on August 21 versus Region IV opponent, College of DuPage, in Malta at 6:00 pm.  They will then be at two consecutive tournaments to tune of for the season.  First over the August 25th  weekend at the Waubonsee Invite in Sugar Grove and then the following week at DuPage's Chaparral Invitational in Glen Ellen the weekend of August 31.
