March 27, 2019 - After going 2-5 on their southern swing in South Carolina, the Kishwaukee College Womens Softball team played their first Region IV doubleheader games Wednesday afternoon against Bryant and Stratton College up in Wisconsin. The Kougars took game one 5-3 but dropped the nightcap 11-3. In game one, it was a scoreless pitchers duel with a 0-0 score until the top of the fifth when Kish plated 3 runs in their half of the inning. They would add two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Bryant and Stratton would pick up three in the final frame but Kishwaukee held on for the win. Faith Roush went 4-4 for the Kougars while Shaylee Clow (2 for 4, 1 run), Taelor Schmitz (1 for 2, run scored 2 stolen bases) and Hailey White (1 for 3, 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases) helped the Kish offensive attack. Larisa Smits went the distance in the circle for the Kougars striking out 5.
In game two, both teams scored 2 runs in the third but the Bobcats pulled away with runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings on the way to the 11-3 victory. Alexis Ramon went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI to lead Kishwaukee. Roush (2 for 3, run scored), Clow (2 for 2 with run scored) Helena Porter (run scored) and Jessica Meyers (1 for 2) paced the Kougars offense. Ramon took the loss pitching but giving up just 3 earned runs.
Kishwaukee (3-6 overall) hosts Carl Sandburg College Thursday, March 28 with first game starting at 3:00 pm before travelling on Friday, March 29 to Triton College begining a DH at 4:00 pm.
